Frankfurt Rhein-Main-Airport
Saturday March 23rd, 2019
On Saturday, 23rd of March 28 Bachelor- and Masterstudents from Darmstadt and Dieburg started their business trip to China, Taiwan and South Korea with Professor Dr. Schellhase, Mr. Bopp and their wives. Most of us were excited about this 10-day long journey, because the majority of us has never been to Asian countries before, especially those we were going to visit.
We all had to meet in the departure hall at 3pm at Frankfurt Airport, our Lufthansa flight LH 728 started on schedule at 5:40pm.
Shanghai
Sunday March 24th, 2019
Our flight to China took almost 11 hours so it was a mixed feeling between excitement and anticipation. Overall, we had a really safe and comfortable flight and the immigration in China was not a big deal at all.
Immigration at Shanghai Pudong Airport
When we arrived in Shanghai our guide Miss Gong, immediately took care of our group and guided us along with the bus driver to Narada Boutique Hotel in downtown Shanghai.
At that time, we realized this trip was no vacation at all because, Miss Gong informed us that she was doing some sightseeing with us this afternoon as well.
After approximately one hour in our hotel ...
... we started our sightseeing programme to Shanghai Tower, with a height of 632 meters, the highest building in China and the second highest worldwide. Honestly, we would have faced huge difficulties in using the subway system of Shanghai without our tour guide Mrs. Gong. Shanghai's rushhour is very impressive and in no way compares to any rushhour in Germany so we can just say a big Thank you or “谢谢” (Xièxiè) to Mrs. Gong again, but after a few days this wasn’t a problem at all.
Smoggy Shanghai,
view from the Tower Observatory over Huangpu Jiang to district Puxi.
We spent our first evening in a group of five and ate some typical Chinese food, this was probably the best thing of that day. After the long flight we were pretty hungry and needed a lot of food.
Shanghai at its best:
NOODLES,
a "Must have"!
