East Asia 2024

It has been five years since our last excursion, spreading our wings again and leaving Corona behind with all the restrictions and lockdowns. During these five years the world has changed at an incredible speed.

Our lives are increasingly influenced by AI, geopolitical and geostrategic hard facts in all areas. After decades of cooperation and collaboration between East and West - foreign trade volumes have increased from year to year - now the turning point is "de-risking", the reduction of dependencies on individual business partners or regional markets.

Many global players are supplementing their previous investments in China by opening additional production facilities in alternative locations in SEA. Vietnam, in particular, is increasingly coming into focus. A free trade agreement has already been concluded with the EU and an Investment Protection Agreement for EU-business in Vietnam is ready to pass through Europian parliaments. Last but not least, Vietnam is embossed by European culture more than other Asian States: Driving on the right hand side and even more important for businessmen, they use the Latin alhpabet.

Reason enough, after our trip in 2019 we chose destinations in EA for the second time, starting with the opener: Ho Chi Minh - City.
