Frankfurt - Kuala lumpur

    On Saturday the 8th April, we met at 12 o’clock at Frankfurt Airport. 13 Bachelor- and 15 Masterstudents as well as Professor Bopp with his wife Ingrid and Professor Schellhase with his wife Helene all started for our SOA (SEA) Excursion.

    Every one of us was very excited, because most of us had never been to South-East Asia before and we had no idea what to expect there. The only thing everyone knew was about the hot temperature in all of the three countries

     

    Our flight was very comfortable, because we had the chance to go by the A380. You have a lot of space to extend your legs, to recline the seat and just sleep like a baby. If don’t want to sleep you had the chance to use the extraordinary entertainment system in the seat in front of you.

    After around 11 hours of flight, we landed at the airport in Bangkok, just to switch the plane to go to Malaysia. The second flight was very short. It just took around 2 hours to go to Kuala Lumpur Airport. There our tour guide Mally gave us a warm welcome. In Malaysia you say hello/welcome, when you put your right hand on your heart, make a short bow and say “Selamat datang!”.

    Mally told us that Malaysia is a quiet, small country. They have 28 million inhabitants. The currency is called “Ringgit” (MYR). Some of the students couldn’t remember the name and often asked how the money was called or even called the currency “Rehkitz”. That was much easier to remember and caused a lot of laughter.

    We arrived at our Hotel called Dorsett, we checked-in, lodged our luggage in our rooms, took a fast shower, changed clothes from long into short (because it was around 30°C) and went out to explore the city.

    The first day ended with wet clothes, wet shoes and full stomachs. We had dinner in a restaurant really close to our hotel. It was a recommendation from one of the concierges in the hotel.

    At the end of our first day, we fell asleep excited about what would await us next day.
